Advertising, Marketing, Cookies, and Other Tracking Technologies Choices

Collection and Technologies

We use automated tracking tools to collect information about your phone, tablet, computer, or device, and online browsing activity. This information may include IP addresses, unique device identifiers, cookie identifiers, device and browser settings and information, and Internet service provider information. We also partner with third parties that collect information this way. These third parties may place similar tracking tools on our Website and application to facilitate tracking services. Such tracking tools may include the following:

Cookies

Like many websites, we use a feature of your browser called a “cookie.” A cookie automatically identifies a computer—but not an individual—to our servers when a person visits our website. They enable us to estimate usage patterns, store information about your preferences, customize our Website, and recognize users when they return to our Website. If for any reason you do not wish to take advantage of cookies, you may have your browser not accept them and also delete cookies from your browser.

Third-Party Cookies

Some of our business partners use cookies on our Website. We have no access to or control over these cookies. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party cookies outside of our control.

Cookies/Tracking Technologies on LinkedIn Page

Streamwood maintains the Streamwood LinkedIn Page. When you visit our LinkedIn Page, LinkedIn and other third parties may set cookies and other tracking technologies on your browser or device. We do not have control over the placement of cookies by other websites or social media websites. Please note that this Privacy Policy does not apply to, and we are not responsible for, the privacy practices or cookie use by any third-party sites.

Log Files

We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the Website, track user movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information, and we do not distribute or share IP information with any third parties.

Opting Out of Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies or other tracking technology files, or to alert you when these files are being sent. You can choose whether or not to allow the Website to collect information through other tracking technologies by adjusting your browser settings or device permissions. If you disable or refuse cookies or similar tracking files, some Website features may be inaccessible or not function properly. Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that can send a signal to the online services you visit indicating you do not wish to be tracked. Because there is not a common understanding of how to interpret the DNT signal, our Website may not respond to all browser DNT signals. Instead, you can use the range of other tools to control data collection and use, including the cookie controls described in this policy. For information about Do Not Track, please visit: www.allaboutdnt.org.

Location Data Choices

You can choose whether or not to allow the Website to collect and use real-time information about your device’s location through the device’s privacy settings. If you block the use of location information, some Website features may become inaccessible or not function properly.

Fair Credit Reporting Act

In evaluating lease applications, we may obtain consumer reports or prospective resident screening reports from third-party providers. These reports may include credit information, income information, criminal background information, eviction history, and other relevant data. Such reports are obtained and used in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable state laws. Our prospective residents, when applying, may be required to provide authorization before such reports are obtained. If we take an adverse action based in whole or in part on information contained in a consumer report (i.e., denying an application), we will provide the prospective resident with an adverse action notice as required by law.

Data Breach Notification

We maintain procedures designed to address potential data security incidents involving personal information. In the event that personal information is accessed, acquired, or disclosed without authorization, we will investigate the incident and take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law. Where required by applicable law, including applicable state data breach notification statutes, we will notify affected individuals and relevant regulatory authorities of a confirmed breach involving personal information. Notifications will be provided in accordance with the timing and content requirements of applicable law.

Third-Party Prospective Resident Screening Providers

Prospective resident screening reports used in connection with lease applications are prepared and provided by independent third-party prospective resident screening companies and consumer reporting agencies. While we select screening providers that we believe to be reputable and compliant with applicable law, these providers are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and maintenance of the information contained in their reports. Our prospective resident applicants who wish to dispute or correct information contained in a tenant screening report should contact the consumer reporting agency that prepared the report, as described in any adverse action notice or disclosure provided during the application process.
